After a long and beneficial wintry rest, characterized by very low temperatures, the Col d’Orcia vineyards are back to life and slowly begin to sprout. On the hill of Sant’Angelo in Colle, the spring is arrived and Sangiovese slowly reawakens during the first warm days.
A rebirth that includes also the animals: those who come out of hibernation and those who are barnyard animals. The chickens and quails come back to produce their eggs in the farm roost.
Col d’Orcia, the historical winery of Montalcino with Organic certification, opens its own cellars to wine-lovers and to people with great interest in wine and winemaking. The guests are offered a warm and professional welcome including a guiding a guided tour to discover the estate and its vineyard, a visit to the wine making and ageing cellars with an introduction to vinification techniques. The goal of the tour is to allow visitors the opportunity to admire the land, the tradition and the techniques which have made the Brunello di Montalcino a unique wine. At the end of this fascinating experience, guests will be introduced to a wine tasting of the most famous wine produced by Col d’Orcia.
Wine tastings and estate tours can be booked all year round on our website: www.coldorcia.com
